Realizing that there is no such thing as a guaranteed winner, and that it is foolish to wager more than one can afford to lose, etc. etc.
What is the safest bet to make, if someone wanted to bet big only ONCE and walk away, and in what sport? Judging from all the favorites in football winning right now, I would guess it would be the money line on a -900 favorite or so (like if Indy were playing Houston, if any books even offer such a wager)...
From my limited experience betting all the sports in the past month or so NBA/NCAA hoops and Hockey games seem to be so erratic, that on any given night, a dog can win (maybe it has something to do with all the fouls/power plays allowing for more scoring opportunities). For those of you with more long term exposure, does this sound right? Or are things just really out of the norm in the NFL right now?
What bet would you make if you were forced to make one really big bet?
